This year’s event will cover five discussion panels:

Panel 1 – Change management in purchasing (including key success factors, executives’ involvement in the process of change management, HR policies and new challenges).

Panel 2 – Share Service Centre (including an innovative project of an organised purchasing management in the PGE S.A Group of Companies as a value-creating factor, benefits of the SSC implementation, shared categorization and indexes, IT solutions applied).

Panel 3 – Indexes – is it just materials management? Category management in purchasing, product range strategies, supplier selection process and fulfilment management, IT solutions supporting proper management of the indexes base.

Panel 4 – The Public Procurement Act amended (restrictions faced by organizations and big companies, compliance with the EU legislation, the application threshold of the act, a proper specification and procedure’s participation conditions to guarantee that a Public Tender is carried out and finalised in a short time.  

Panel 5 – Purchasing organization’s resources (purchasing-supporting IT system, category management, designing a relevant structure of a Purchasing Office, a right choice of persons to deal with strategic and operational processes – internal or external recruitment?). 

The panel discussions and conference will be joined by managers of almost 100 biggest organizations and companies of fuel, energy, banking, insurance, construction, military, aviation or telecommunication sectors as well as public sector entities. The management executives will have an opportunity to discuss matters relating to the area of their business and identify the best purchasing practices. The participants of the conference, apart from the Organizer, PGE .S.A., will include: Gaz-System, Polkomtel, PKN Orlen, Katowicki Holding Węglowy, Tauron, Dalkia Polska, PZU, Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego, Polskie Linie Lotnicze LOT, Bumar, Polimex-Mostostal, Rafako and many other companies.

The presidents of individual companies will present their vast experience in organizational changes of corporate purchasing structures during the first panel. The last ten years have been a time of great changes in that area in Poland. Those structures did not constitute separate organizational units not so long ago, and today companies establish central purchasing offices or departments, which take responsibility for its own supplies but often also for the supplies of entire groups of companies.

- We are now creating a concept of the Share Service Centre, also in the purchasing area. We are going to consider if it is possible to create an effective and functioning SSC in big groups of companies, in particular, within the Polish regulatory environment – said Jan Stasiak, Purchasing Department Director in the PGE S.A. Group of Companies.

That is why the panel on public procurement looks so interesting.

- During the panel we would like to discuss the proposed changes to the public procurement act prepared previously by the Public Procurement Office. We are going to talk about the influence those changes may have on conducting business by strategic companies, which apply the provisions of the act, and what measures should be taken to prevent extensive bureaucracy of the purchasing process. Those changes may interfere with the purchasing policies in subliminal procurement. Our stand should be considered as we generate the most spending within this area – Jan Stasiak emphasized.
